We will focus on the essential elements of a successful wedding planner, including how to start a wedding planning business and how to differentiate yourself from the masses. We’ll delve into Business 101, contacts, accounting, hospitality vs. service, designing a wedding, pricing, vendor relations, budgeting, and financials. We’ll discuss how to expand your team and all the essentials of planning a wedding, right down to how to designing a table, making and pinning a boutonnière on the fly, cutting a wedding cake, and running a rehearsal. If you are a beginner or even have a couple years of experience, this day is terrific for learning the basics, or brushing up on tips and tricks you didn’t even know you needed. Day 1 is good for beginning wedding planners, planners who work under a company, or experienced planners who need to refresh and rekindle their skills and education.

Heather Dwight - Founder
Heather Dwight started Calluna Events in 2004 after working in non-profit and corporate events for 10 years. With a vibrant and captivating sense of style, Heather is one of the most sought-after wedding planners in Colorado, and the visionary behind Calluna Events being recognized as one of the Best Wedding Planners in America by BRIDES, The Knot’s Best of Weddings (2008-2019), The Knot Best of Weddings Hall of Fame and the winner of Wedding Wire Bride’s Choice Award. Heather served as the Director of Communications on the inaugural WIPA Colorado Board of Directors. Clients describe Heather as having a sophisticated, yet calming confidence, allowing her to be a true advocate for her clients’ vision. Heather also provides business coaching and mentoring and in 2019 launched a new business, Love Well Planned which focuses on workshops for wedding planners and wedding creatives. She loves mindful design, style and immaculate detail. After 16 seasons, what Heather adores the most are the relationships she is fortunate to build with clients and helping couples achieve a beautiful wedding that is authentically theirs.

After graduating with a degree in mathematics and spending several years working in the technology sector, Laura Murray found inspiration in photography. She never dreamed her career would transition from data cruncher to wedding photographer. She considers herself unbelievably lucky that she gets to document the happiest of days for her clients.
Laura is passionate about the pursuit of being the best versions of ourselves. She believes each day we can find little ways to improve which will culminate into big changes. She loves teaching the business side of running a creative brand, particularly about the power of goal setting, productivity tricks to get more done in less time, and marketing for the creative entrepreneur. Her new brand Spark & Bound provides tools to creatives to achieve their wild dreams and extraordinary goals.
Laura has traveled across the world in pursuit of photography, but she thinks there's nothing quite like home. Laura resides with her husband and three boys in the Colorado foothills, surrounded by the natural beauty of the wild.

Cindy Ollig - The Perfect Petal
Cindy’s day starts with plain black coffee and an egg while sketching a wedding centerpiece to send to a bride. Then there's a call to a local ceramic designer who’s just made a line that could fit well in the store, meeting with Serra about the window display, running to market to see what stems are new, grabbing them, checking in with Max and Alex to see what they have in mind for dinner, checking in with Chad at the Four Seasons to see how the lobby flowers are faring, meeting with Chelsea to show her an ad idea, brainstorming a challenging floral request with a new designer, peeking in on the neighbors new baby, Planting up the winter pansies in the two front porch pots while talking to her sister Cate in Austin about the next trip there in April. She will try and fail to make a healthy dinner that everyone likes and afterwards she sifts through the Times online for new jewelry lines for Glam Bomb in May. She’ll watch Masterpiece Theater Mystery with a Cab Franc, read in bed, and then its lights off.

Since then she has tended to the business lovingly, growing it into the decor and floral house it is today.
